In August, 2019, in my former appartment:
I was sitting at the table, looking for cheap plane ticket with my girlfriend, Annie, and we found tickets to this romantic city, that neither of us was before. So we bought them. And in November 2019 we spent a crazy couple of days here. There is one thing you should know before visiting Venice: it gets flooded sometimes. The city is literally situated on the water and sometimes, when rains too much, and the tide gets higher - there might be some water on the streets.
First of all, we didn´t know that.
Secondly, in 2019, Venice got flooded too much and it happend 3 or 4 days before our arrival.
So here we are... November 2019
It´s the day of our departure, we woke up early in the morning, got breakfast and coffee and drove to Decathlon to buy a pair of wellington boots (one for each). We wanted to be ready, you know. In the afternoon, we left to the airport (wearing our brand new wellington boots) and by the evening we were waiting in gate, surrounded by people also traveling to Venice, however, neither of them was wearing same boots as we were. Nevermind. Better to be safe than sorry.
We arrived to Venice before midnight. At the airport we decided to drive by a vaporetto (a special type of a Venetian water bus). We thought it would be the fastest type of a public transportation. Well, it wasn't. It took ages to get to the water bus stop we needed to get to. We almost fell asleep. No kidding. However, somehow we reached our final destination and voilá-we were in Venice. We found our airbnb pretty fast and went straight to bed.
First day in Venice
It was morning and the fun began. As soon as I opened the window I realised we made a good decision. Venice was flooded. Luckily, we stayed on the 1st floor. We got ready and went out. By word 'ready' I mean we put on our wellington boots, some plastic bags and we hit the road.
Most of the streets were flooded, but we didn't really care, because we were prepared!
Wanna know what we did fot the rest of the trip, what interesting places we visited and if we enjoyed our stay? Wait for the next chapter.
